It's one of my favorite souvenirs.
It's small, cheap, useful, consumable, and it's not fragile.
And when it's time to choose a new bar for the tub, we get to remember where we've been!

I still have several hotel soaps that my grandparents brought back from their trip to Europe in the 80s, including Maja brand which I think is quite well known, it has a flamenco dancer as its trademark... I can't bring myself to use them so they live in my wardrobe and make my clothes smell nice :)
Wow! We don't get that kind of soap where we vacation. We usually get those little slivers of soap that you can't hold on to because they're so tiny to start with. But our vacations have never carried us out of the U.S. In fact, we rarely leave Alabama.

these aren't any old hotel or motel soaps...these are from the local grocery stores!
