Cheap and Cheerful

I've been pretty good at resisting useless stuff at the thrift shop lately, but a couple of things wore down my resistance. The wooden plate on the left is from Poland. Isn't it wonderful? I collect cheerful wooden things from Eastern European countries, so I had to have that! Three dollars. And then the tile. It's a Xenia Taler tile, which meant nothing to me at the store, but I thought it was too cute to pass up for two dollars, so that came home with me too!

I feel that buying things at thrift stores does in fact RESCUE them from landfills. So I am really SAVING THE PLANET when I buy useless things from the thrift store. =)

I'm glad you could all share in my thrifting JOY with me! Trust me, though, every trip to the shop does NOT result in stuff like that!

The little tile is gorgeous. I do a lot of thrifting too but am trying to cut back on what I actually bring into the house - small house, waaaaay too much stuff!!

That plate is so adorable. I'm a little obsessed with the whole Eastern European folk art thing...which is hilarious because it has nothing to do with my heritage.
