Raspberry Goodness

I'm not a big candy eater--if given the choice, I usually choose something salty instead--but I have a soft spot for red licorice. One of our local supermarkets carries this brand from Finland, but it's $3.49, which seems kind of expensive. Since I've always been too cheap to try it, I was excited to see it at a different market for $1.50!

This is some interesting stuff. The ingredients are molasses, wheat flour, raspberry puree, citric acid, natural raspberry flavor, black carrot juice, and licorice extract. Black carrot juice? Notice there are no artificial colors. The black carrot juice is used for coloring, and I must say, it makes for a surprising appearance.

What's really interesting about this stuff is the taste. It actually has a licorice taste in addition to the raspberry! Black licorice doesn't interest me, but the faint anise taste of this is nice.

Uh oh, I just visited the Panda website. Can't understand a word of it, but there are some delicious looking things there! I think this is going to end up costing me more than $1.50!
