September 1, Self-Stitching Kick Off

Dress, self-made, New Look 6803
Shoes, Tatami

Alrighty, there I am in all my headless glory on the first day of Self-Stitched September! It didn't seem right to kick off SSS by tossing on a necklace I made or something I wear all the time, like a skirt, so I dug deep into my closet and pulled out this dress. I made this dress last summer and never wore it, because I felt dorky in it, even after I replaced the ghastly cap sleeves. I guess I threw it on yesterday thinking "It's now or never!"

I actually like it much more this time around. One thing I never noticed before is the way the pattern arranges itself on the front of the dress. I like that. And the pockets--I really like the pockets!

It's the belt that really makes the outfit, though. Without the belt, it's a real mess. All in all, I feel I've already benefited from Self-Stitched September, because I was finally inspired to wear this, and --surprise-- people liked it! Gerry told me I looked cute, coworkers commented on it, and I even had a patron remark on the fabric!
