Whiskers

I've said before that I excel at procrastinating. Remember that messy room I started to clean last month? Let's just say I'm still working on it. Oh, it was going well, but then I came across that weird knitting project and got sidetracked. (More on that soon.) Next, I found some fat quarters I'd purchased back when I was making my First Quilt Ever and decided my life depended on making something quilty immediately. After noodling around on the internet for about an hour and a half, I found these instructions for making a cat quilt block and decided to give it a try. Well, my fat quarters did not lend themselves to the design, but my heart was set on the cat, so I pulled some other fabrics from my stash and came up with this.

It's not the most complicated design or the best piecing job ever, but I think the face makes up for it. I was inordinately pleased with myself for coming up with that idea for the whiskers and for sewing the irises that way. (I'm sure it's been done before, but allow me the indulgence of thinking I came up with it!)
Speaking of whiskers, this is my box of Isabella's whiskers. Whenever I find one on the floor, I put it in here and save it. This wasn't my idea--my friend did it first. I love having them, but I guess some people might think it's akin to saving toenail cuttings and a little weird. (No, I don't save her toenail cuttings.) Do you save anything strange?

Oh! The cat square is adorable! I think I need to make one for Bob (my cat), another pillow for him to lounge upon.

Whiskers? How do you even FIND them? I presume that all of Bob's and Zoe's get sucked up in the vacuum.

Making a quilt block is so much more fun than cleaning a messy room! And your little pillow is so cute!

I'm not sure if I save anything that's weird because what's weird to one is normal to another. Would a collection of 300 zippers and 5000 cards of buttons seem weird to some people? If so, then I guess I do save weird things. Or I at least have an over-abundance of some things.

Re-llly Unique: They are precious! That's just it!

Angela Pea: I'm sure some get vacuumed up, but every so often I spot one!

The pillow is so cute. What a cute idea. I think people keep something that they think is precious to them. The one thing that I always kept was my son's baby teeth. He is 35 yrs. old, but I still have them. They are precious to me.

So, so cute! I love the little stitched on whiskers!

I have a few whiskers from my kitties... and I also have a few feathers from the pet bird I had years and years ago. Little treasures to remember them by!
