Surprise! This is what I did with the rest of the Ikea fabric! I know what you're all thinking: A skirt? Darling Petunia made a skirt? Can you believe it's been TWO MONTHS since I last made a skirt? Shocking.
The back view. For once in my life, I thought before cutting, and made sure I didn't end up with a pink circle on each of my butt cheeks. That's the kind of thing I usually do so well. I'm also pleased with how the hem came out. This is a rather stiff and heavy fabric, so instead of folding up a hem, I used thin bias tape. I think it's a nice finishing touch.
Here's an outtake from my camera-timer photo session. When Isabella needs her belly rubbed, she waits for no one! It's also an example of why I keep my head out of my pictures. Look at that rat's nest!

love it!
that turned out gorgeous! thanks for sharing this.
I love that skirt! I want that skirt!
I love it! Wonderful. Love the colors and the hem technique - the black seam tape anchors the colors. I love the ONE pink circle near the butt cheek - cute!
Did you self-draft that or use a pattern? I'm looking for an a-line skirt pattern.
It's gorgeous!!
That is a great skirt!
As Lawrence Welk used to say....Maaaah-velous!
It's perfect.
I love that skirt and it looks great on you!!!
Gorgeous! What pattern did you use?
Really subtle and understated ;-) And very nice. Looks great on you!
Wow! That is some great fabric, beautifully executed in to a one of a kind skirt! Love the fact that you have to drop everything and pay attention to the cat. It's too bad that they're all so independent and aloof, isn't it? :-)
Hi,
I love IKEA fabric too and the last two skirts that I have made used their fabric. is this the same pattern that you used last time. You should start up a skirt flickr group and ask people to add their creation and which pattern they used. A resource of ideas and successful patterns. Fancy making a Christmas stockings? Got a swap sign-up going.

Really pretty!
Now, show us your cords, lol.

Very cute! I really like that fabric.
Fantastic skirt! I really love the bias tape addition. Very modern way to tackle a hem.
I was at Hancock Saturday and saw a whole of table of wild wonder prints and I thought, "These look like Petunia's new skirt." I was tempted but I was on a mission to get a certain pattern and nice cord print for a birthday present for a 5 year old birthday. I didn't find either -I'll try a large Hancock closer to me- maybe I'll buy some fabric for a Petunia skirt this time.

Your skirt looks fab, such lovely colours and a great style.
That skirt is HOT! Good job!
I'm going to Ikea this week and I definitely need to check out their fabric selection now that I've seen this!
