Last summer, I needed a swimsuit and deemed it within the rules to buy one. Would Thoreau question my need to go snorkeling in Italy? Well, I might have gotten stung by a medusa if I hadn't been careful, but it was a fabulous experience and I'm glad I did it.
This summer, I have a different need: Clothes that are loose, cool, and modest. I confess, I bought a few things to try out, but in order to honor my pledge, I decided to return them and go it the Wardrobe Refashion route instead.

Turning to my fabric stash, I found a few yards of a natural colored linen. Perfect! I used Simplicity 7092, which I've used before to make pajama pants. Worst part of the experience: I sewed the legs together inside out. Best part of the experience: I learned how to use the automatic buttonholer on the Bernina. Yay, me!
Rounding out the "collection" is a trio of thrift shop shirts (no more than $4 each) and a gauzy scarf I scored for $2 at Salvation Army. Isn't it pretty?

So does anyone (who doesn't already know) want to guess the purpose of this mini-wardrobe? And don't even THINK about suggesting I'm pregnant!

My guess about your new wardrobe (which I love, specially the trousers) is that you are going somewhere really hot but you want to cover up, may be for cultural reasons in the place that you're going to - Egypt perhaps? Just a guess.
I would agree with Fiona about the hot weather but cultural modesty idea. I had a good friend who was working in Bangladesh for a while and she found she had to definitely stay covered up.
I must gently hint that the forbidden thought had been lurking in a corner of my mind.

You're flying somewhere? Cause those would be awful comfy and long pants cause the air conditioner might be a tad cold on the airplane.
So, where are you going? Inquiring minds & all that...
I love everything!
Perfect choices.
I know, I know....could it be a vacation to Morocco!
